I received this lovely email from one of our loyal readers who thinks I might be getting a little soft and need to get back on track (not that soggy one near the Bungle on Brunel). (name witheld to protect the guilty)
For God's sake don't change your editorial direction.
In the spirit of continued irreverence...
Tonight's TV listings has America's Got Talent...followed immediately by The Republican National Convention. Seriously.
It is gratifying to know that with Romney and whatshisname, once again America will have someone that speaks for the uptrodden. Have your priced the new Jag convertible lately.?
Eighty per cent of the restaurants that I have passed lately advertise that they are "Gluten Free"....pity the poor bastards that were in the Gluten business.
Ontario political journalists are touting the September 4th by-elections as the most important in the history of Ontario....perhaps the most important since the last elections. If the Liberals lose both, Dalton joins a major law firm. If Hudak loses both he gets a "jobbette" with the Fraser Institute. If the NDP wins with the non-socialist socialist, Msss. Horwath, many of us will move to New Hampshire.
Question of the week...How many MPP's are sitting in seats won by their parents?     I couldn't let those comments go without a response....I'll do my best to be a grumpy grandfather! The by-elections are very interesting.... Hudak is useless and has to go.... Do we need a new centrist party here in Ontario? Here's the meat of Curmudgeon's response (with some of the truth edited)     New party won't work although the Quebec election circus may be cause for reflection. We could take over either of the mainstream parties and make them "radical middle' parties which would start a new 40 year term.
This won't come from McGuinty or Hudak. Both have ideological baggage that is hard to overcome. This is the subject for a two drink meeting. (I agree!!!)
That said, it would not be hard to do this.
The radical middle is pissed. they are pissed at Hudak and they are pissed at Dalton and they really don't take Horwath seriously. That said, a really bad campaign by the Liberals could see the NDP creeping up. Then we can turn off the lights.
MP's and MPP's need to remember that if they don't put the public interest first, they are vulnerable. Period. I have seen them come and go. Doesn't mean taking a poll on every g.d. issue..
Hudak has a caucus with 36 or 38 people. If 20 of them got focused and spoke up as the "radical middle', they are in. Likewise, if (when McGuinty goes) and they found their way to a person of courage not political correctness...they are on their way. The problem for them both is they have internal trouble.     Hudaks successor in waiting is Frank Klees. The Liberals will be inclined to find some ten speed, politically correct gormless asshole. Enough.     Looks like we could have some fun here soon... I think you'll agree... thems fightin words. p.s. These words are not from Shortwinded.... but he could be next to weigh in!
